“Black Skinhead” When I first the snippet of new Kanye song “New Slaves” I wasn’t too fussed. That changed when he performed that and other new track “Black Skinhead” over the weekend on SNL. The energy and the attitude that ‘Ye delivered made these songs and now I’m excited about the new album Yeezus, its going to be like nothing he has...

Sunny & Gabe: "Clouds"
(via Pigeons and Planes) This is shimmery summer perfection. Flipping the drum beat of Q-Tip’s “Breathe and Stop”, Sunny & Gabe’s “Clouds” is a hazy dream pop esque track that is optimism in music. This is end credits kind of music. Sunny & Gabe are from Norfolk, VA and “Clouds” is from the upcoming release #FreeCandy.  Sunny &...

The Weeknd: "Kiss Land"
Here is the title track for The Weeknd’s new album Kiss Land and as good as you expected it would be. Its withdrawn, lovelorn, dark, ominous, hazy and turns on its head in the middle. With three mixtapes worth of music already, a proper full length debut album from Abel Tresfaye and The Weeknd crew is very exciting.

Lana Del Rey: "Queen of Disaster"
Well, this is delightful isn’t it? This is slightly different from the usual Lana Del Rey sepia tinged nostalgic epic songs, its light and fluffy sixties pop with a Del Rey twist. Apparently recorded back in 2011, no one really knows why or where this is from but hey, its quite nice and thats all that matters.

Banks: "Warm Water"
This sounds like when you go under the water in the bath and just block out everything. That’s what Banks’ “Warm Water” sounds like, except for those vocals which break through the fuzzy warm beat like a ray of sun through some rain clouds. Yeah.  “Warm Water” is available May 27th on Good Years Recordings.  BANKS: Website…Facebook…Twitter…Soundcloud

Watch out Bey, your sisters nipping at your heels. On “Looks Good With Trouble”, with Hip Hop’s golden boy Kendrick Lamar over a Dev Hynes beat, it almost feels like Solange and co are coming through to set up camp as the new kids on the block. That’s a killer K dot verse.  Download from iTunes.

Chapter House: "Getaway"
Have to thank my pals Seasfire for putting me onto fellow Bristol artist Joshua Vincent aka Chapter House.  “Getaway” starts off quiet and then launches into the first big moment of the track. While this can’t touch the original, Giraffage makes a very good effort with this remix, brightening it up and adding something bouncy synth arpeggios. Perfect for summer.
