Tea Leigh & Luke Reed: "Do You Sleep"
Sorry that its been a while since I last posted, birthdays in Vegas got in the way. Here I am though back with some lovely treats for you.  Everyone loves some hazy dreampop so here’s Tea Leigh & Luke Reed “Do You Sleep” that drift you away to blurry John Hughes scenes and sepia tinged memories.  Luke Reed: SoundCloud

Future Islands: "Tomorrow"
Truth be told, I was meaning to post about Future Islands’ new material around a month ago when “Cotton Flower” dropped but it completely slipped my mind. My bad. Luckily, I’m up on the next new thing “Tomorrow” which is a slick, 80s funkified track that is smoothed over even more with Sam’s cameralised vocals. That voice, that voice.  Future...

Remix Baby: Bon Iver "Wash. (LEANN GRIMES remix)"
Yesterday I posted up Work Drugs remix of “Beth/Rest” as part of a competition to be part of an official Bon Iver remix album and now I have something for you from one of my favourite remixers LEANN GRIMES. Taking the hypnotising piano of “Wash.” LEANN GRIMES’ Shane Conerty enriches the track with a big drum beat, autotuned vocals and a soft low piano.  Check out...

Leona Lewis: "Trouble ft. Childish Gambino"
Woke up this morning to the wonderful news (yeah it is wonderful) that Leona Lewis has got a new single out. Things seemed to stumble for the most successful X Factor contestant after the troubles with Avicii and “Collide”- dates were pushed back and albums retracted. After all that we have something completely different than the direction taken on “Collide” which was a...

Remix Baby: Bon Iver "Beth/Rest (Work Drugs...
Work Drugs already flipped an Adele cover on its head so when they got in touch about remixing Bon Iver’s opinion splitting album closer, “Beth/Rest”, needless to say I was intrigued to say the least. With sped up vocals and an easy listening back beat this is an interesting reworking of an already pretty interesting track. Kudos boys, kudos.  Check out here for the remix to...

AlunaGeorge: "Your Drums, Your Love"

Jessie Ware: "Devotion" Album Out Now
Having given it a first listen, I am absolutely blown away by Devotion. It is a fluid, incredibly well put together album with stellar songwriting and production. Standouts for me are “Wildest Moments” “Running” and “Taking in Water”- and that’s after one listen.  Be ready to see this in MANY end of year lists.

Flying Lotus: "Between Friends ft. Earl Sweatshirt...
Adult Swim’s Single Program gives us 12 tracks over 12 weeks and this year’s batch includes Com Truise, Wye Oak, Gauntlet Hair, Wavves and The Hives. Pairing the lo-fi hip hop soundscapes of Flying Lotus with Odd Future’s Earl Sweatshirt and the ‘mysterious’ Captain Murphy (could it be Tyler the Creator, Flying Lotus or Flying Lotus himself- I’m leaning on...

Magic Hour: "Remember Harder LP"
Ambient electro is one of my favourite things, if done right they can capture sunlight and oceanwaves in a sound and transport you to white sandy beaches. Magic Hour’s debut Remember Harder LP is full of  gorgeously warm synths and far away vocals that whisk you away to somewhere shimmery and blue.  Grab the LP right here.  Magic Hour: Soundcloud…Twitter…Facebook

Hit-Boy: "Hit-Story"
Apologies that this slipped under the radar from last week but G.O.O.D. music in house producer (that’s not ‘Ye) Hit-Boy just dropped his mixtape showcasing his lyrical prowess alongside his already proven beatmaking abilities. The beats are beautifully produced with full arrangements and perfectly tailored to Hit-Boy’s delivery. I guess G.O.O.D. music hasn’t just got one...

disCOVER: The Good Natured "She Drives Me Crazy...
As soon as that snare hits, The Fine Young Cannibal’s “She Drives Me Crazy” is instantly recognisable. So when covering such an iconic track you have to be able to put your own spin on it. Luckily for The Good Natured, they do. It’s a faithful cover, yet Sarah McIntosh’s soft, English vocals add something new and ground it into the soft and subtle arrangements that...

Kate Bush: "Running Up That Hill (2012 Olympics...
I really enjoyed the Olympics, they gave us so much to cheer and be happy for. The Closing Ceremony was a bit all over the place but it did showcase some of our best talent and Kate Bush is exactly that. She might not have been there to perform it in person, but this new mix of one of my favourite tracks “Running Up That Hill” still hits every note and tugs at my heartstrings....

Every Spice Girl Video.
Be still my 10 year old beating heart. When The Spice Girls got out of those black cabs at tonight’s Closing Ceremony of the London Olympics I absolutely lost my mind for a few minutes. Since then I’ve watched the performance back a number of times, watched the documentary from ‘08 when they were last reunited and found that the wonderful people over at Buzzfeed of put together...

Seasfire: "Undone"
Seasfire is one of my favourite things of 2012- lo fi heartbreak and melancholic soundscapes is what they do best. “Undone” takes R&B and flips it on its head with other world vocals over somewhat menacing synths, sultry guitars and deep percussion. With no album or EP out yes, Seasfire are keeping us all on our toes with these delicious snippets.  Seasfire - Undone (Exclusive)...

Lana Del Rey/Cheryl Cole: "Ghetto Boy"
I’ve been out of the UK for a while so I hadn’t heard Cheryl Cole’s “Ghetto Baby” penned by Lana Del Rey until the LDR version leaked today. I heard Del Rey’s version first and listening to Cole right after doesn’t do the Geordie lass any favors- it’s got Lana’s stamp all over it and LDR’s version sounds so much more comfortable. VS ...

Ellie Goulding: "Anything Could Happen"
Vulture wrote in their review of Ellie Goulding’s new one “Anything Could Happen” that it ‘should satisfy any Annie Lennox cravings you might have woken up this morning’, I think is one of the best things I’ve ever heard. That said, “Anything Could Happen” could come close as the lead single from the upcoming album Halycon is a delightful romp in...

Jessie Ware: "Sweet Talk"
When everything comes together perfectly in a song you get a track like Jessie Ware’s latest “Sweet Talk”. Bringing together the warm Sade vocals, the relaxed electric piano and the running away percussion, the track melts with that guitar solo. Ware has another artist defining song on her hands from her upcoming album Devotion. There has not been a song that I haven’t...

VIDEO: The Neighbourhood "Female Robbery"
The Neighbourhood must have whiplash from the amount of times they’ve had to turn their heads at something amazing that has happened- it’s been a mega year for the Cali boys. I know I’ve been hooked since the drum intro to “Sweater Weather” (Zane Lowe’s a fan too). The boys like to maintain some mystery so here are some beautiful visuals for “Female...

Mumford & Sons: "I Will Wait"
The first time I heard Mumford & Sons was in a club in Leicester after spending a year in America. During that year, Mumford & Sons had gotten huge in the UK but hadn’t made it over to the US yet so I was in a club thinking why the hell are they playing country music on a Saturday night-but wait, people are dancing, people are singing along… THIS IS A THING. That was my first...

Since then I’ve been keeping an eye out for new things and today I got a lovely surprise in my inbox of new things from BARBARA. “Dangerous” is a quiet somewhat mournful...

Aaliyah: "Enough Said ft. Drake"
Ten years and more have passed since we lost the beautiful voice of Aaliyah, however tonight Drake unveiled a track with the late singer apparently using previously unreleased vocals on “Enough Said” produced by Noah “40” Shebib. Kind of wish Drake brought his sing along side with him than his “tryna handle fame and riches” persona or maybe even a verse that...

bassDrumsnareDrum: "All We Need"
Dark and ominous is always good fun especially when its paired with such sweet and angelic vocals like in bassDrumsnareDrum’s “All We Need”. A heavy bass borrowed from from dubstep alongside Betty Steele’s striking, delicate vocals come together to make a dark and brooding cut. Listen when in the right mood…but definitely listen.  “All We Need” is a...
