Album Stream: The Great Gatsby Soundtrack (via NPR)

(via NPR)

A week before you can get your grubby little mitts on it, NPR have a full stream of the soundtrack to one of the hotly tipped films of 2013. Curated by Jay-Z, snippets and previews of the soundtrack have been emerging all over the place but now we have it in full with songs from Hov himself, Beyonce, Florence Welch, The xx, Emeli Sande, Bryan Ferry, Lana Del Rey, Jack White, Sia and more.

Out May 7th.

Florence + The Machine: “Over The Love”

(via GQ)

Yesterday the sampler for The Great Gatsby soundtrack dropped and a lot of people liked what they heard. Admittedly there are high hopes for this Jay-Z curated album but he seems to have brought in a strong bunch to compliment the hype for the film. Here’s the full version of Florence + The Machine’s contribution “Over The Love”. Written specifically for the film, Florence Welch’s vocals do what they do best over a reverby military beat. Its epic and full sounding and fits everything perfectly.

The Great Gatsby Soundtrack Sampler

(via Pigeons and Planes)

I am very excited for the upcoming The Great Gatsby. Every trailer has knocked it out of the park with their music selection (“No Church In The Wild”, “Love Is Blindness”) and the soundtrack promises to be just as good. With executive producer Jay-Z on board, he’s brought together Beyonce, Andre 3000, will.i.am, Q-Tip, Lana Del Rey, Brian Ferry, Florence + The Machine, The xx, Sia, Gotye…and of course the ubiquitious Emeli Sande pops up (I kid…)

(thanks to dochliebchen letting me know about the “Love is Kindness/Blindness” error)

A$AP Rocky: “I Come Apart ft. Florence Welch”

So the long overdue eagerly awaited debut album,Long.Live.A$AP from A$AP Rocky is pretty nice right. Right.

Along with Kendrick Lamar, Schoolboy Q and Joey Bada$$ (who all have features on Long.Live.A$AP), A$AP Rocky is taking care of how Hip Hop is gonna be in the next era. A couple years back their were worries that Hip Hop had lost its soul and while there’s a few too many Eurotrash dance beats still hanging around, Hip Hop is in some safe hands with this new generation. Word.

It’s an incredibly strong debut and you can check it out here on spotify and download it here. Here’s the collaboration between A$AP and Florence Welch, “I Come Apart”

Blood Orange & Florence + The Machine “Never Let Me Go (Remix)”

Dev Hynes of Blood Orange, Lightspeed Champions and Test Icicles can pretty much do anything with music. Under his current guise as Blood Orange, Hynes is championing the 80s smooth rnb sound and it just sounds amazing whether its his stuff or collaborations with Theophilus London and Solange Knowles. Oh yeah, that’s another thing, he has a few famous mates and this time around he’s put his silky smooth stamp on Florence + The Machine’s “Never Let Me Go” alongside Flo herself.

Check out the track and interview with Hynes here. (via Interview Magazine)

disCOVER: Florence & The Machine “Take Care (Drake Cover)”

This needs to happen for real, its no secret that there is a lot of fan love between Drake and Flo, Drizzy even wanted her on his new album but it didn’t happen this time around. Flo and her well oiled machine stopped by BBC Radio 1’s Live Lounge today to play six tracks from her sophomore album Ceremonials. As per the Live Lounge tradition she also performed a cover and she picked a doozie. She picked the Drizzy remix of the Jamie xx remix of Gil Scott Heron’s I’ll Take Care Of You, still with me?

Flo sounds awesome doing both RiRi and Drizzy’s parts, and her flows not too bad. I’m gonna say it again, this needs to happen for real.
