LIVE: Rihanna “Diamonds”

I seriously think that this is one of the best singles that Rihanna has. I don’t know what it is; the vastly improved vocals, the warm 80s synths or the sheer vulnerability that escapes in her performance as seen on SNL and on this past weekend’s X Factor. RiRi always puts on a show and normally straddles the line of controversy but with this one it was stripped back save for the rain…

Rihanna: “Diamonds Remix ft. Kanye West”

G.O.O.D. Friday everybody!!!

Today, Kanye West dropped a remix to Rihanna’s “Diamonds” (arguably one of her best singles to date). Gracing the remix with a verse featuring Fresh Prince of Bel Air lines, some screaming and all the cockiness you come to expect. You can kind of tell ‘Ye is just chatting off the top but its G.O.O.D.

PLUS: I’m a sucker for “Shine bright like a diamond” refrain. Gotta love Ri Ri.

VIDEO: Coldplay “Princess of China ft. Rihanna”

Here is the video for Coldplay’s “Princess Of China” featuring Rihanna from their latest album Mylo Xyloto. I remember this track sticking out for me back when the album was first released so I’m glad to have some visuals to go with it. And the visuals are pretty damn good, taking inspiration from the kung fu genre. Great video to go with a great song.

disCOVER: Florence & The Machine “Take Care (Drake Cover)”

This needs to happen for real, its no secret that there is a lot of fan love between Drake and Flo, Drizzy even wanted her on his new album but it didn’t happen this time around. Flo and her well oiled machine stopped by BBC Radio 1’s Live Lounge today to play six tracks from her sophomore album Ceremonials. As per the Live Lounge tradition she also performed a cover and she picked a doozie. She picked the Drizzy remix of the Jamie xx remix of Gil Scott Heron’s I’ll Take Care Of You, still with me?

Flo sounds awesome doing both RiRi and Drizzy’s parts, and her flows not too bad. I’m gonna say it again, this needs to happen for real.

Drake: “Take Care ft. Rihanna”

Whatever went on between these two, you can’t deny that they make some good music together like What’s My Name and now Take Care from Drake’s new album of the same name. Over a Jamie xx produced beat which sounds very early 90s UK dance (and fits well into whats going on commercially right now think We Found Love), RiRi really shows off her voice and Drake shows off his compassionate side.

Rihanna: “Drunk On Love”

It’s not as good as the original, but Rihanna’s take on The xx’s Intro is pretty good. Drunk On Love, from the new album Talk That Talk, turns Intro into a thumping rnb track that ignites when the chorus drops.

Talk That Talk is out 21 November, pre-order here.

Coldplay: “Princess of China feat. Rihanna”

So Coldplay’s new album Mylo Xyloto has leaked, and everyone is raging over this one featuring Rihanna. This could be a Rihanna song, but there are certain Coldplay elements. Either way Rihanna holds her own and Coldplay are venturing out, it’s pretty damn good.
