The Belle Brigade: “Shirt”

Brother and sister duo, The Belle Brigade make seriously good sweet music. Shirt is no exception, sung from the perspective of a shirt it starts off slow and melodic and then erupts into this great pop rock song that you can’t help bob along to.

Jul

Best of 2011 So Far. According to ITYLTS.

Its July, so we’ve just passed into the second half of the year, HIGH FIVES. And with that milestone, every blog seems to be coming out with a best of the year so far list, so we thought we’d do the same. This is based merely on what ITYLTS thinks has been great this year. The only requirements to be on the list is for the track to either be released this year or to have ‘emerged’ this year, and it’s one song per artist. This basically covers songs that have been around maybe since last year but only have been released this year all official like. So here it is and in no particular order:

Let us know if we’ve missed any out…

The Belle Brigade (@thebellebrigade)

We came across The Belle Brigade on a friends blog and because we’ve had pretty good recommendations before (Clock Opera) we gave The Belle Brigade the benefit of the doubt. Now we feel bad, cause The Belle Brigade are actually really very good.

The duo made up of brother and sister Ethan and Barbara Gruska come from good music stock, their grandfather is legendary film composer John Williams. The comparison to Australian brother and sister duo Angus & Julia Stone is easy to make, and while listening to a few tracks on their website I did start to get that vibe, so if you like the Stones you’ll like The Belle Brigade. Though The Belle Brigade have a folk/rock/funk/pop sound that sets them apart from their Aussie peers.
