Who doens’t love a bit of 50s inspired dream pop with lots of lovely oohs and ahhs thrown in for good measure crossed with the hazed stylings of Washed Out, that’s right everyone. “Skyscraper” comes courtesy of London duo Elephant who used to be romantically linked, then they split and now they make music. Lovely music, like this.
“Skyscraper” is out March 25 through Memphis Industries.

This may be from Ernest Greene’s first EP as Washed Out but having recently just watched a few episodes of the delightfully quirky Portlandia, “Feel It All Around” is in my head. Taking all the best elements of the summer, “Feel It All Around” encompasses that playfully laid back feel of hazy summer days and looks back to classics like Kool and The Gang’s “Summer Madness”. It’s like a super chilled out M83.

It all started when I innocently posted up Cameo’s amazing “Candy” on my facebook. Before I knew it myself and Selfish Dan were in a tense and constantly heating up “Summer Off”. Trying to best each other with the better summer song we went from early 90s west coast hip hop to 90s one-hit-wonders to chilled out ibiza anthems to a Beach Boys remix.

Pigeons and Planes posted up an article yesterday about the top 10 hip hop meets electronic collaborations they would love to see. Lo and behold, today one popped up by Carlos Serrano mashing up Washed Out’s Far Away with Kanye West’s Diamond From Sierra Leone. It makes the iced out track heaps more introspective, its really very good.

We keep being told to check out Washed Out and we finally have. Amor Fati featured on a summer mixtape we downloaded the other and its got into the ipod rotation. If you like what we’ve posted on Teen Daze, St. Lucia and other chillwave artists you should give Ernest Greene’s project out.
