Work Drugs: “West Coast Slide”

Lets go get on our yacht and hit the big blue…

Summers so close you can almost touch it and my favourite Philly duo, Work Drugs, are going to help you ready for it with their new track “West Coast Slide” from their upcoming untitled as of yet next album.

Loving that killer guitar solo and catchy ass choruses.

I chatted to the duo last summer about lots of lovely things, check it out here.

Remix Baby: Bon Iver “Wash. (LEANN GRIMES remix)”

Yesterday I posted up Work Drugs remix of “Beth/Rest” as part of a competition to be part of an official Bon Iver remix album and now I have something for you from one of my favourite remixers LEANN GRIMES. Taking the hypnotising piano of “Wash.” LEANN GRIMES’ Shane Conerty enriches the track with a big drum beat, autotuned vocals and a soft low piano.

Check out more remixes from LEANN GRIMES here

Remix Baby: Bon Iver “Beth/Rest (Work Drugs Remix)”

Work Drugs already flipped an Adele cover on its head so when they got in touch about remixing Bon Iver’s opinion splitting album closer, “Beth/Rest”, needless to say I was intrigued to say the least. With sped up vocals and an easy listening back beat this is an interesting reworking of an already pretty interesting track. Kudos boys, kudos.

Check out here for the remix to appear on an official Bon Iver remix album.

INTERVIEW: Work Drugs

I’m gonna put it out there straight, I have no idea what ChillWave means- but I know I like it. When I chatted to Work Drugs they weren’t quite sure either.

Whatever it is, they’re doing it right.

The Philly duo, Benjamin Louisiana and Thomas Crystal, came together over a love of one of the best genres out there, Yacht Rock, and out of that love came- Work Drugs. Their debut Aurora Lies was the perfect summer companion for chilling out on your yacht (don’t worry if you don’t have one, its goes really well without too) and their upcoming sophomore effort Absolute Bearing looks like its going to continue the trend if “Boogie Lights” and “License To Drive” is anything to go by.

I chatted to Tom about beginnings, yacht rock, influences, that Adele cover and so much more.
