She of the quite good covers is at it again, this time she’s paired up again with Chiddy Bang’s Xaphoon Jones (they did “High For This”) coming along with a cover of Alt-J’s “Tesselate”. I’d try to describe but if you have an idea of what an Ellie Goulding cover of “Tesselate” is going to sound like, then yeah, thats what it sounds like.
So last week Hoodie Allen dropped the first track, “Cake Boy" from his next mixtape Crew Cuts and it got kind of a mixed response cause it wasn’t like your traditional Hoodie cut with the switched up happy go lucky samples and fun sing along choruses. But it was showcasing Hoodie as a guy who can do more than rhyme witty wordplay over happy go lucky samples and sing along choruses. For those that were worried, thou shalt not fear cause HA has delivered. “Fame Is For Assholes” is back to familiar ground dropping names and wit waiting for all of us to figure it out and pick it up, with a feature from Chiddy Bang.

Back with a brand new mixtape for the summer, Chiddy Bang have just dropped the Peanut Butter & Swelly mixtape. Available to download from here at illroots.com. Its everything we expect from Chiddy Bang as always bringing the original and the samples to make a mixtape perfect for rocking this summer. There are some great collaborations on this including one with our favourites The Knocks on When You’ve Got Music and Heatwave with Mac Miller that we posted up a whiles back. Here’s a few tracks to wet your whistle for the mixtape…
We’re not really sure where we should put this artist, whether we feature them through Remix, Baby or disCover. It’s definitely in You Should Own This, so let’s take it from there. Chiddy Bang is an alternate hip hop group that made a name for themselves remixing and sampling bands such as Radiohead, MGMT, Passion Pit, Ellie Goulding, The Naked and Famous and Tinie Tempah to name a few. Their mini-mixtape release Air Swell and (big) mixtape The Swelly Express cemented Chiddy Bang firmly in the music mainstream and as artists in their own right and caught the attention of UK record label Parlophone.
and their remix of Ellie Goulding’s Under The Sheets
