Oh, when Jessie Ware comes in…amazing.

At The xx’s “Day + Night+ festival in Berlin, they started off performing a cover of Modjo’s eraly 00s dance hit “Lady” over a Jamie xx remix beat and then Jessie Ware arrived to deliver that irresistible hook from Stardust’s “Music Sounds Better With You”.

Night Beds cover Robyn

Its been a while since I checked out The A.V. Club’s Undercover Sessions (bands come in, pick a song, cover it) but tonight I did and found this charming cover of Robyn’s best known song. Night Beds put a 90s melancholic spin on the track and make it work.

Wow, this was brave. 

London’s Daughter has been steadily creeping onto the scene with hauntingly beautiful tracks for the last few months, taking names and breaking hearts effectively. She stopped over at BBC Radio 1’s Live lounge this past weekend and decided to put her stamp all over a song that is so completely the original artists its almost unfair. And you know what, she nails it. Yeah, Daughter turns Daft Punk’s “Get Lucky” into a slow, brooding, late night treat and it still sounds great.

I personally would skip forward to around 1.50 and go from there. I love Andre 3000 but I’m really not feeling his intro bit on this cover for The Great Gatsby soundtrack. Beyonce kills it though.

London producer/singer Jai Paul unexpectedly dropped an album today and this cover of Jennifer Paige’s 90s one hit wonder was on it. And its amazing.

Daughter have been skirting my radar for the last six months or so and now they seem to be doing some big things. Last week they were iTunes free download of the week with the amazing “Human”. They recently dropped round BBC Radio 1 to record this amazing mash up of Bon Iver’s “Perth” versus Hot Chip’s “Ready For The Floor”. No lie it sounds amazing, a stumbling along piece of laid back indie genius that manages to fit both songs perfectly. 

I’m not sure if you’re aware but the original line up of the sugababes, Mutya, Keisha and Siobhan have been back in the studio with one of my favourite producers Dev Hynes (Solange, Blood Orange etc.) I am SUPER excited for whats going to come from those sessions but for now Dev Hynes has just given us this, the girls messing around in the studio with dazzling harmonies over Kendrick Lamar’s “Swimming Pools”. 

And here’s a little taster of new material, an a capella version of “Boys”.

AlunaGeorge’s Aluna Francis is gonna be a star. That look, them vocals. Good golly miss molly. Here’s the duo putting their touch on a disney classic, The Jungle Book’s “I Wanna Be Like You” originally performed by jazz legend Louis Prima. It was recorded live for BBC Radio 1.
