GAYNGS
We’ve been meaning to post on super group GAYNGS for a while now. GAYNGS, led by producer Ryan Olsen, features some of the greatest musicians and artists in music at the moment including Bon Iver, The Rosebuds, Doomtree, Har Mar Superstar, Solid Gold and the Megafauns (to name a few) GAYNGS is the joining together of these amazingly creative minds. Olsen’s original small project, influenced heavily by soft rock/pop band 10cc and their great pop song I’m Not In Love, has grown into a 25 strong collective who’s debut album Relayted nestled in on many best of 2010 lists. Relayted is a collection of genres: soft rock, haunting melodies, r&b, jazz, blues all recorded at sixty-nine bpm. The band 10cc has become a byword for studio invention and creativity and GAYNGS pays a perfect homage to this, summed up in their beautiful cover of Godley & Creme’s (half of 10cc) Cry (definitely worth looking this one up on youtube).

The Rosebuds (@therosebuds)
We first heard about The Rosebuds through listening to Bon Iver. This North Carolinian indie rock/dance/folk duo of Ivan Howard and Kelly Crisp, who met in college, recruit some of the finest musicians and artists in the indie/folk/alternative scene at the moment, including Justin Vernon, to play with them when touring. Howard is also a part of super group GAYNGS which has one of the most impressive lines up out there.
The Rosebuds - Woods by One Thirty BPM
The Rosebuds are back with new album Loud Planes Fly Low, released on June 7th. Woods, which is being given away free on their website here (as well as Second Bird of Paradise) is a great indie/folk/rock/pop song that hits the spots. A fantastic opening leads to a catchy sing along chorus which, trust us, will get in your head for days.
